Eyebrow Brush Hacks & How-To's: Mastering Your Brow Game
If eyes are the windows to the soul, then consider eyebrows the curtains that frame them. A well-groomed set of brows can transform your entire look, lifting your face and drawing attention to your eyes. And when it comes to crafting the perfect shape, an eyebrow brush can be your best friend. From shaping to filling, this versatile tool can work wonders. In this guide, we’ll delve into eyebrow brush hacks and how-tos, ensuring your brows are always on point.
How to Use a Brow Brush
Before diving into the intricacies of eyebrow makeup, mastering the basic techniques of using a brow brush is essential. We recommend you opt for a double sided traditional angled brush with a spoolie - we recommend this one.
1. Brushing Up:
Start by brushing your eyebrow hairs upward using the spoolie end of the brush. This helps to reveal the natural shape of your brows and allows you to see any sparse areas that need filling.
2. Dip Brush Into Product:
Dip the angled brush into your chosen eyebrow product, whether it’s a pomade, or powder.
We like to use the pomade located inside the brow stamp cap! The formulation application, even when used with the brow brush is amazing.
3. Defining the Shape:
Using light, feathery strokes, outline the bottom edge of your brow, following its natural arch. Then, fill in any gaps using short, upward strokes.
PRO TIP- unsure of your correct brow shape? We got you! You can fill in your brows using a brow stencil with a brow brush. Simply align the stencil to your brows and with your brush, outline the complete bottom line of the stencil shape and the last 3/4 of the top of the brow shape- we recommend not harshly outlining the very front of your brows for the most natural brow look!
4. Filling in:
Once you have completed this step fill in the inside back 3/4 of the shape, (making sure the front 1/4 of the shape is filled in with hair strokes or lighter all over color)
5. Blending:
Once you’ve applied the product, use the spoolie to blend it out, ensuring a seamless transition between your natural hairs and the filled-in areas.
6. Setting:
Finally, set your brows in place using a clear brow gel. This will help to keep them looking groomed throughout the day.
How to do Eyebrow Makeup with a Brow Brush
Now that we have mastered the basics, it’s time to take your eyebrow game to the next level. Whether you prefer a natural look or something more bold and defined, the right technique can make all the difference.
Natural Looking Brows
For a subtle, natural-looking finish, use light, upward strokes to fill in any sparse areas, focusing on enhancing your brow’s natural shape rather than creating a new one. *Lining the perimeter of the brows is not required.
Bold and Defined Brows
If you prefer a more dramatic look, reach for a pomade in a slightly darker shade than your natural hair color. Use the angled brush to outline the bottom edge of your brow, then fill it in using short, precise strokes. For added definition, carve out the top edge of your brow using a concealer that’s one shade lighter than your skin tone.
Best Eyebrow Brush for Hair Strokes
When it comes to creating hair-like strokes, not all eyebrow brushes are created equal. Look for a brush with fine, densely packed bristles that mimic the texture of natural hairs. A slanted or angled brush is ideal for creating precise, lifelike strokes, while a spoolie can be used to blend them out for a more natural finish.
How to Clean Your Eyebrow Brush
Proper maintenance of your eyebrow brush is essential to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Here’s how to keep it clean and pristine:
- Regular Cleaning: After each use, wipe off any excess product from your brush using a clean tissue or cloth. This will prevent product buildup and ensure a more precise application.
- Deep Cleaning: Once a week, give your brush a thorough clean using a gentle brush cleaner or mild shampoo. Simply dampen the bristles, lather them up with the cleaner, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Allow the brush to air dry completely before using it again.
By incorporating these eyebrow brush hacks and how-tos into your beauty routine, you’ll be well on your way to achieving flawless, fully customizable Instagram-worthy brows.
